In November, I had the chance to create a travel vlog around my visit to the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC.) The experience itself was overwhelming. There were so many emotions associated with the self guided tour, that it took a two visits to move through. Since the museum opened, I’d been wanting to visit. I will say, it was worth the trip to the D.C. area.

The Journey:

The trip to D.C. was pretty smooth. I was grateful to have one of my best friends, Tie, with me on the journey. We’ve become travel buddies – she’s ride or die. This was the 4th and final trip we took together in 2017. We flew Southwest, and they are totally my go-to when booking air travel. They are budget friendly (for those like me that are “boujie on a budget”) and there’s limited hassle. When we booked our flight, we decided on Baltimore as our arrival point. Upon landing, we were able to catch an Uber to our hotel in D.C.’s Embassy Row, just a few short bocks away from the White House.

The Museum

Next stop, the NMAAHC! When I arrived, I was so excited about the design of the building. It was GORGEOUS.

Check out the video and let me know what you think about our first day!
